Learners from the O’Growney Drive Campus, Level 5 Animal Behaviour course, attended Dublin Zoo to complete Ethograms (observational behavioural studies) on their chosen species, which included the Elephant and Giraffe herds, the Siamang Gibbon and Gorilla troops, the Sea Lion and Penguin colonies, the majestic Snow Leopard, the Red Panda pack and the crash of Rhinos!
The learners enjoyed a walking tour led by a Dublin Zoo educator, where we visited multiple species’ habitats to discuss key aspects of animal behaviour from an animal care and conservation perspective, the benefits of enrichment, anthropomorphism, and how behaviours can be recorded and analysed. A fantastic day of learning was enjoyed by all.
The next intake for the Level 5 Animal Care Award will be in September 2026, and we are now accepting applications via www.fetchcourses.ie
