Can I take part for free?

Anyone who has left full-time education can take part in a BTEI course. But, we will give priority to people who didn’t get the chance to complete second level education.
Courses are free to anyone with:

1

Medical card

2

Jobseeker’s
payment

3

Means-tested
welfare payment like
X

4

Family Income
Supplement

If you are a dependant of someone on an above payment, you also qualify for free. If you are currently out of work and didn’t finish second level, you can get reduced fees. If you don’t fit into the above categories, you will have to pay full fees.

Do I get a certificate?

Generally, courses lead to an award or certificate but getting a certificate is not compulsory. A certificate is a recognised award that can support you into employment and higher education. Other certification includes:

Junior Certificate

Leaving Certificate

ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence)

Where can I do a BTEI course?

We offer BTEI courses in Longford, Mullingar and Athlone. These courses run on a flexible part-time basis and can take place in the morning, afternoon or evening. Usually, each class runs for one or two sessions per week.
